What to Do in Case of an Accident with a Rental Motorbike: Step-by-Step Guide

Getting into a road accident can be stressful, especially when you’re abroad. To stay safe, avoid unnecessary expenses, and handle the situation properly, follow this guide.

1. Assess Your Condition First

Before anything else, check your physical condition.
If you are injured:
    •    Avoid moving suddenly, especially if you suspect a fracture or serious injury.
    •    Ask bystanders or witnesses to call an ambulance and the police.
    •    Call us immediately:

If you’re fine and able to continue, proceed to the next step.

2. Minor Incident with No Other Party Involved

If:
    •    You were the only one involved,
    •    The damage is minor,
    •    And no one was injured —

You can ride the bike back to our office, and we’ll assess the damage together.
In such cases, there’s usually no need to involve the police, which saves time and hassle.

3. Accident Involving Another Vehicle or Person

If another party is involved, follow these steps:

3.1. Determine Who Is at Fault
    •    If you believe you are at fault, try to negotiate a fair compensation directly with the other party, without calling the police.
This is often the quickest and simplest solution.
    •    If you believe you are not at fault, or you’re unsure, or the other party is uncooperative,
you must call the police to make an official accident report.

3.2. If the Other Party Is at Fault
    •    Contact us and send photos of:
– The damage to the bike
– The other vehicle (if applicable)
– The other party’s documents
    •    We will evaluate the repair cost and let you know how much the other driver is responsible for.
    •    If both sides agree and payment is made on the spot, police involvement may not be needed.

4. If the Issue Is Not Resolved On Site

If no agreement is reached:
    •    The police will create an official report.
    •    The motorbike may be towed to an impound lot.
    •    To retrieve the bike, you will need to:
    1.    Go to the local police station and resolve the case
    2.    Obtain release paperwork
    3.    Pay the towing and impound fees
