Motorbike Rental in Jomtien

Jomtien is the long, flat beach district south of Pattaya: six kilometres of seafront along Jomtien Beach Road, with Thappraya Road and Jomtien Second Road running parallel inland. It is a district of condominiums and long-stay guests rather than nightlife, and its defining feature is distance — from Soi 1 to the far end of the beach is a half-hour walk, Thepprasit Market sits well inland, and the baht buses stop where it suits them. That is why renting a motorbike in Jomtien is everyday transport rather than an adventure: a scooter turns a 25-minute walk to the shops into a four-minute ride.

Our nearest branch is the Pratumnak office on Pattaya Park Road, where the hill road drops down towards the Jomtien side — about five to ten minutes from the Dongtan police box at the northern end of the beach. We also have a second office in Naklua, North Pattaya. Both open daily 10:00–20:00 with no lunch break, so you can collect a bike yourself or we can bring one to your condo.

We have rented bikes in Pattaya since 2009 and keep a fleet of more than 800 vehicles — Honda and Yamaha scooters, cars and bicycles. Paperwork takes about ten minutes: we copy your passport and the original stays in your hands, because we never hold passports as security. Instead there is a cash deposit — 2,000฿ up to 160cc, 5,000฿ for 300–350cc, 1,000฿ for a bicycle. Two helmets come with every bike and we stay reachable for the whole rental.

Rental prices in Jomtien

The longer you keep the bike, the cheaper the day: a Honda Click 110 is 250฿ for one day, 150฿ a day from a week, and 2 500฿ for a month — which is why most Jomtien customers take the monthly rate. Full table on the prices page.

Which bike to choose for Jomtien

Jomtien is flat. There is no climb inside the district, the seafront is a straight line and Jomtien Second Road is wide and open, so engine size here is about how far you plan to ride rather than about pulling power:

• Honda Click 110 or Scoopy 110 — perfect for the district itself: the beach road, the sois down to the sea, Thepprasit Market. Light, easy to squeeze into a full row of parked bikes, and the cheapest thing we rent.
• Honda Click 125 LED or PCX 150 — the sensible choice if you ride two-up or cross Thappraya Road over Pratumnak Hill daily. The climb out of Jomtien is short but steep enough that a 110 with a passenger feels slow.
• Honda Click 160 ABS or Forza 300 — for people who actually use Sukhumvit: Bang Saray, Sattahip, Khao Chi Chan. Extra weight and wind protection matter on the highway, and ABS is worth having when the road is wet.
• A bicycle — underrated in Jomtien, where the promenade is flat for six kilometres. Deposit 1,000฿.

Where to park a motorbike in Jomtien

Parking is genuinely easier in Jomtien than anywhere else in Pattaya — this is the district where you can usually stop right where you want to be.

• Jomtien Beach Road has bike parking along almost its whole length, much of it free. On weekdays you will find a space within metres of the beach; at weekends the stretch near the cafés and around Dongtan fills by late morning.
• Jomtien Night Market, on the beach road between Soi 8 and Soi 9, runs from around 17:00 and has its own bike parking — use it rather than the carriageway.
• Thepprasit Market (Friday to Sunday evenings) has a big dedicated lot — the one place in Jomtien where arriving by car is a mistake and by bike is not.
• Condominiums almost all have bike parking, usually free for residents and guests — ask security at check-in whether the barrier is locked overnight.
• What to avoid: red-and-white kerbs, the mouths of the numbered sois where baht buses turn, and the pavement in front of shop entrances. Municipal officers do clamp and remove bikes here.

Where to ride from Jomtien

Jomtien is the best base in Pattaya for riding south, because you are already past the worst of the city traffic.

• Pattaya Floating Market — about 2 km along Sukhumvit, ten minutes. An easy first ride if you are new to riding here.
• Pratumnak Hill, the viewpoint and the Big Buddha at Wat Phra Yai — 5–6 km, around 15 minutes up Thappraya Road; see our Pratumnak page for that climb.
• Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain) and Silverlake vineyard — roughly 20–25 km south, 30–40 minutes on Sukhumvit and then quiet back roads. A comfortable half-day.
• Na Jomtien and Bang Saray — 20–25 km down the coast road, about 40 minutes, with seafood restaurants on the pier at the end. Almost traffic-free once you clear Jomtien.

Roads, traffic and fuel

Jomtien Beach Road has been through a long drainage rebuild and a one-way experiment; it is now back to two-way traffic, so read the signs rather than following the car in front. Expect double-parked cars, pedestrians stepping off the promenade and delivery vans stopping without warning — speed is not the issue here, attention is.

Thappraya Road is the district's link to Pattaya and its busiest road: it climbs over the shoulder of Pratumnak Hill, has several unsignalled U-turn points and backs up in the early evening. Jomtien Second Road is the faster way along the district, and Sukhumvit is the route for anything outside the city — four lanes each way, with frontage roads and U-turns that take getting used to.

Fuel is easy: PTT and Bangchak stations sit on Thappraya Road and along Sukhumvit, gasohol 95 costs around 39฿ a litre, and a four-to-five-litre scooter tank lasts several days of local riding. Roadside bottles and the small pump machines in the sois cost more per litre — fine for a top-up, not for filling up.

Police, licences and helmets

Police checkpoints appear regularly on Thappraya Road and at the Sukhumvit junctions, and they do stop foreign riders. Two things get checked: helmet and licence. Riding without a helmet is a 500฿ fine and it applies to the passenger too — which is why two helmets come with every bike.

The licence question causes the most confusion, so to be clear: we do not require a driving licence to rent. But Thai law requires a category A or A1 licence — Thai or an international permit endorsed for motorcycles — and that is what police look for. Bike delivery to Jomtien

Delivery to Jomtien runs from our Pratumnak office on Pattaya Park Road — we normally arrive within 30 to 90 minutes of agreeing the order. Delivery is a paid service and the price depends on your address, so the manager confirms it before you commit. If you would rather not pay for it, collecting the bike from the office takes ten minutes and you ride straight down into Jomtien.
