Motorbike Rental in Naklua (North Pattaya)

Naklua is the old Thai half of North Pattaya: a working fishing community that the resort grew around rather than replaced. Naklua Road runs north from the Dolphin Roundabout towards the Sanctuary of Truth, and everything else here hangs off it as a web of narrow numbered sois — Soi 12, Soi 16, Soi 18 and the rest — many of them too tight for two cars to pass. Along the way are the Lan Pho fish market, the fishing pier, small family restaurants and, on the seaward side, the condo towers of Wongamat. It is a district where the shops, the beach and the market are all a few hundred metres apart in different directions, which is exactly the situation a motorbike in Naklua solves.

You can walk in and ride out in about ten minutes, or we bring the bike to your condo. We have been renting in Pattaya since 2009 and keep a fleet of more than 800 vehicles: Honda and Yamaha bikes, cars and bicycles.

We copy your passport and give the original straight back — we never hold documents as security. The deposit is cash: 2,000฿ for bikes up to 160cc, 5,000฿ for 300–350cc, 1,000฿ for a bicycle. Two helmets come with every bike and we stay reachable for the whole rental.

Rental prices in Naklua

A Scoopy 110 is 250฿ for a day, 150฿ a day from a week and 2 500฿ for a month — Naklua has a lot of long-stay residents, and the monthly rate is the usual choice here. Full table for every model on the prices page.

Which bike to choose for Naklua

Naklua rewards small and narrow. The sois here are lined with parked cars, market stalls and food carts, and the useful width of the road is often less than three metres. A compact scooter goes through where anything bigger has to wait:

• Honda Scoopy 110 or ZoomerX 110 — the natural fit. Light, short, easy to turn in a dead-end soi and simple to slot into a half-metre gap at the fish market.
• Yamaha GT 125 or Click 125 Keyless — a little more pull for riding two-up or heading down to central Pattaya and back several times a day.
• Honda PCX 150 LED — the sensible pick if you plan real distance: Sukhumvit north to Bang Saen, or a full loop of the city. Comfortable seat, big enough to carry a passenger and shopping.
• Honda Forza 350 — for riders who want a proper maxi-scooter for highway days. Deposit 5,000฿ rather than 2,000฿ on this class.

Where to park a motorbike in Naklua

Naklua is the district where parking is a matter of local knowledge rather than of finding a sign.

• Condos and hotels — almost all of the Wongamat towers have their own bike parking, often underground. This is the best option by far, but guest spaces can be restricted at busy times, so ask the security desk when you check in.
• Lan Pho market — there is space to leave a bike around the market and the pier, but it fills early: the seafood trade starts around 5:00 and the streets nearby are busiest in the morning.
• Wongamat beach — very little dedicated parking on the seaward side, so most day visitors leave the bike on the side street and walk down the access lane.
• In the sois — park tight to the wall and parallel to it. A bike sticking out by 30 cm in a Naklua soi is the difference between a delivery truck passing and a queue forming behind it.
• What to avoid: red-and-white kerbs, the soi mouths on Naklua Road where songthaews pull in, and anything blocking a gate — municipal officers clamp and remove bikes in Pattaya.

Where to ride from Naklua

• The Sanctuary of Truth — about 1 km down Naklua Soi 12 and roughly 3 km from our office. The all-teak temple on the shore is the single best short ride in the district.
• Wongamat and the fish market loop — a few kilometres in total: the beach, the pier, Lan Pho and back. Best in the early morning, when the market is at full tilt.
• Central Pattaya, Central Festival and Walking Street — 4–8 km south down Naklua Road and Second Road; see our Central Pattaya page for the traffic and parking there.
• Bang Saen and Ang Sila — 30–40 km north on Sukhumvit, around 40–50 minutes. Long seafront, oyster restaurants and far fewer tourists. Take a 150cc for this one.

Roads, traffic and fuel

Naklua Road is the spine and the bottleneck: essentially two lanes carrying everything between the Dolphin Roundabout and the north, with songthaews stopping wherever a passenger raises a hand and market traffic on top of that. It flows well outside the morning peak, but leave extra time between roughly 07:00 and 09:00.

The sois are the real character of the district. They are narrow, often unlit at the far end, and they do not connect the way a grid would — several simply stop at a wall or a gate. Ride them slowly, expect a car reversing out of a driveway, and be aware that dogs and children treat the soi as part of the yard. In the morning the fish market leaves wet patches on the asphalt around the pier; they are slipperier than they look.

For fuel, there are PTT and Bangchak stations on Sukhumvit and on Pattaya Nua (North Pattaya Road), a short ride from anywhere in Naklua; gasohol 95 costs around 39฿ a litre. Small pump machines and roadside bottles in the sois are convenient for a couple of litres but cost more.

Police, licences and helmets

Checkpoints in this part of the city usually stand on Naklua Road near the Dolphin Roundabout and at the Sukhumvit junctions, and foreign riders are stopped there regularly. Helmets are checked first: riding without one is a 500฿ fine and it applies to the passenger too — hence the two helmets with every bike.

On licences, plainly: we do not require a driving licence to rent. Thai law does require a category A or A1 licence — Thai or an international permit endorsed for motorcycles — to ride, and that is what the police look for. Bike delivery to Naklua

Delivery in Naklua and Wongamat runs from our own office on Naklua Road, so it is usually the quickest delivery we do in Pattaya — normally 30 to 90 minutes from agreeing the order. Delivery is a paid service and the price depends on the address; the manager confirms the amount before you commit. Many customers here simply call in at the office instead, which takes about ten minutes.
